1. Who are you?
We are Martin Gaughan and Colm Keane, together have have been best friends for over 5 years.

2. What do you like about what you do?
We both work in Television. It’s an exciting profession that is always changing as people’s ideas and the things they like change and become more liberal. Television always reflects what people think but also challenges them to think new things, so it’s exciting to be a part of programmes that do that.

3. What don’t you like about what you do?
The job is exciting, yes, but if there was something not to like, or that is difficult, is getting the content of TV shows right. People will switch off straight away if they don’t like what they see. Also, the TV market gets really busy, but similarly, it can get extremely quiet.

4. Please tell us about ‘Eurotrip’, its goals and the mission!
Eurotrip is a project being run by TalktoEu, which is a public information initiative being run by the EU Commission in Ireland. The idea is to show people how open and accessible the EU is to its citizens and that you can freely move around these countries and work in them, experience their cultures, the people, or just go for a holiday.

5. Which cities do you visit with regards to ‘Eurotrip’?
Helsinki, Talinn, Riga, Vilnius, Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Zagreb, Ljubjana, Rome, Strasbourg, Paris, Luxebourg and Brussels. We’re extremely excited about staying at The Ring in Vienna. It’s such a beautiful city and to experience it through such a spectacular hotel will be a real treat.

6. How do you promote ‘Eurotrip’ and your experiences?
The main promotion is through the website: www.talktoeu.ie/eurotrip. In Ireland, there are radio ads on almost every radio station informing people about the website and what the trip is about. There’s also ads being run on the internet, plus we are making videos for YouTube that people watch and it also spreads the word.

7. In which hotels do you stay when visiting the cities/countries?
We’ll be staying with The Ring in Vienna, Bhudda Bar in Prague, The Four Seasons in Budapest and The Radisson in Rome. Our hotels after Rome are currently being booked.

8. Any comments you want to share with us?
The experience so far has been absolutely spectacular. This has been down to the amazing people in each country, but also down to the amazing people who have welcomed us so warmly in every place we have stayed. We know The Ring will be one of the warmest welcomes we can expect, and we look forward to documenting our time there and coming back more and more.
